Cut to the beat in Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro
Pulse Edit finds the beats in your music and builds the cut timeline for you. Since version 1.0.51 it can write that timeline as a Premiere Pro XML or a Final Cut Pro FCPXML, next to the OpenTimelineIO file it already wrote for DaVinci Resolve. Same licence, same €13/month — you pick the editor from a menu.
What it exports today
- The cuts, on the beat, with the in-point of every clip.
- The music, trimmed the way you trimmed it.
- Beat markers, on the music clip, on the exact frame of the beat.
- A cut list in JSON, if you want to read the edit rather than open it.
What it does not export
- Speed ramps and animated zooms. They are built through the DaVinci Resolve Studio scripting API and live only in Pulse Studio.
- The AI mood edit. Same reason.
- Transitions. The export carries cuts, not effects.
Why it says beta, and what that means for you
The two files are written to spec — the FCPXML is validated against Apple's DTD on every export. What we have not done yet is open them inside Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro ourselves — not once. We do not own the licences, so the files are validated against the format, not against the applications that read it. Until we have, the feature carries a BETA label in the app, on this page, and in the menu where you pick it. We would rather tell you that than find out from you.
If something does not import cleanly, write to support@pulseedit.com and send the file — that is exactly the feedback that takes it out of beta.
Questions
Does it replace BeatEdit?
It does the same job for the same kind of edit — finding the beats and cutting to them — and it is included in a licence that also covers DaVinci Resolve and a colour plugin. Whether it replaces it for you depends on your workflow; the beta label is there so you can find out before deciding.
Which one do I pick in the app?
The «Send to» menu is the first thing on the window: DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro (beta), Final Cut Pro (beta). Final Cut is listed on macOS only.
Is it another purchase?
No — one key covers Pulse Edit, Pulse Studio and Pulse Color.
